Growing Great Leaders offers research-based professional development with direct relevance to your own leadership and school development. Strengthen your practice by learning key leadership skills and related research, in the context of your current leadership challenges.
This course offers research-based professional development with direct relevance to participants’ own leadership and school/community development. Growing Great Leaders™ level 2 uses real-life problems from schools or communities of schools, and guides participants through the process of improvement while developing competence and skills in particular aspects of the improvement puzzle.
Become an expert at engaging in difficult conversations that will build relationships while tackling problems! Many leaders find it difficult to build relationships while tackling and progressing significant work tasks and tough issues. Open-to-learning™ (OTL™) Leadership is unique in explicitly addressing the integration of task and relationships so that respect is maintained while difficult issues are progressed.
The Open-to-learning™Advanced Practitioner programme is offered to leaders who have completed at least two days of introductory course work which could include prior experience through the Masters of Professional Learning at the University of Auckland’s Faculty of Education or through participation in our introductory courses. It is delivered in two modules of two days each and includes significant practice in OTL™ leadership with a heavy focus on participants’ theory-in-use..
The Planning for Improvement course is aimed at leadership teams to strategically think, plan and develop their annual plan. We encourage leadership teams of three from your school that may involve the chairperson or a board delegate, the principal and some other leader. Using your own school data, the course will allow time for groups to work on a first draft ‘skeleton’ of your annual plan.
The Ministry of Education's locally funded PLD model highlights the importance of high levels of leadership expertise. In supporting leadership development, CEL’s Bespoke Leadership PLD design team places an emphasis on ensuring that professional learning opportunities reflect the needs and priorities of individual schools and CoLs. Our bespoke, approach can readily accommodate your team’s needs making use of MoED PLD funding.
